Description
Yong Look Lam's "Semporna Series" captures the rustic charm of traditional village life in Semporna, Malaysia. This particular piece portrays a stilt house made from weathered materials like wooden planks and thatched roofs. The scene is rich with everyday details: laundry hanging to dry, uneven steps leading up to the home, and people engaging their daily tasks. The muted earth tones and soft lighting evoke a sense of quietude and simplicity, emphasizing the close connection between the villagers and their natural environment. The delicate watercolour technique enhances the texture and atmosphere, bringing the humble setting to life with a sense of nostalgia and authenticity.
