Awang Damit Ahmad, a Malaysian abstract expressionist, creates dynamic works inspired by his rural Sabah upbringing. He graduated from UiTM and earned an MFA from the Catholic University of America. His work has won numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the National Open Art Competition. Known for his symbolic elements and fragmented shapes, Awang's paintings explore landscapes, nature, culture, and social matters. His most recognized series include EOC, Marista, Iraga, and Payarama.
