In Spring Morning (Edition 32 of 150)

Art Details

Artist Eng Tay
b. Kedah, 1947
Year of Artwork 1979
Description Eng Tay's In Spring Morning depicts a serene and harmonious scene that captures the essence of an early spring day. Several figures are engaged in harvesting activity, carrying bundles of crops in their hands. The muted colors and fluid forms of the figures create a sense of unity and gentle movement. The artwork beautifully captures the quiet industriousness and renewal associated with spring mornings, highlighting both the labor required for new growth and the promise of the season to come.

Eng Tay, born in 1947 in Kedah, Malaysia, moved to New York City in 1968 to study graphic design, painting, and printmaking at the Arts Student League, School of Visual Arts, and Pratt Graphics Center. He worked in the graphic arts field until 1978, when he embarked on painting trips to South America and Indonesia, which inspired his artistic subject matter.
