Description
Ajis Mohamad's Satu Pagi Di Pulai Perhentian captivates a scene that unfolds beneath the ocean's surface. Here, amidst the azure waters of the Perhentian Islands, a turtle gracefully navigates the ocean depths with its flippers outstretched, taking center stage as it moves with fluid elegance, embodying the timeless harmony of sea and life. The artist's brushstrokes capture not just the scene but the essence of tranquility and wonder, inviting us to dive deep into a realm where nature's beauty dances in vibrant hues, creating a symphony of underwater magic.
Ajis Mohamad, a self-taught artist, initially painted portraits and various subjects at the Conlay art colony in Kuala Lumpur. He obtained his scuba-diving certification from PADI and began painting underwater in 2000, developing his unique approach to art. He actively participated in conservation and awareness campaigns related to sea corals, including events like the Inspirational Science Camp in Pulau Tiga, the Shell World Coral-Transplant Project, and beach clean-ups such as the Pulau Perhentian Earth Day initiative. Additionally, he collaborated on the Pulau Sibuan Darwin Project, focusing on the risks of explosive fishing with the Bajaus. For his efforts, he received the Youth Ambassador Award from the Sports Ministry in 2004.
