Ahmad Shukri is a renowned Malaysian artist who has achieved significant success throughout his career. In 1991, he graduated from the Mara Institute of Technology. His artistic journey took a major turn in 1994 when he won the 1st Prize in the Malaysian Art Open at Galeri Petronas with his work featuring chloroformed butterflies. Shukri continued to garner accolades, winning the Major Award in the 1997 Young Contemporary Artists (Bakat Muda Sezaman) competition and the Juror's Choice Award in the 1997 Philip Morris Asean Art Awards finals in the Philippines. He was also a top 5 Malaysian-level winner in the 1999 Asean Art Awards, and his work was featured in the Asean Art Show at the Fukuoka Art Museum in 1994. Shukri has participated in various prestigious events, including the Sharjah Biennale (2003), residencies such as Rimbun Dahan (2003) and Echt in Amsterdam (2013), and workshops in Bangladesh and Denmark (2002). His solo exhibitions, spanning from 1998 to 2017, have further solidified his reputation as a prominent figure in the Malaysian art scene.
